Rachel Peters, Full name Rachel Louise Peters-Villafuerte is a Filipino-British model, beauty pageant titleholder, and host who was born in Manama, Bahrain on 20th October 1991. Rachel Peters is most popularly known to be crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2017.
Peters was born in Bahrain, his father is British Nigel Peters, and his mother is Filipino Annie Obregon. She has a younger brother named Daniel. Their family runs a concert promotion company that provides services for performances across Southeast Asia. Peters graduated from The British School Of Bahrain with a bachelor’s degree in international affairs in Phuket, Thailand, and a bachelor’s degree in business, tourism, and events from La Trobe University.
Peters started her grand event when she participated in the 2014 Miss Philippines World Competition at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila on October 11, 2014. She competed as the fourth princess but lost to the eventual champion Valerie Wegman. She also won the Yahoo Readers’ Choice Award and Miss Seductive Award.
On April 30, 2017, Peters participated in the Binibining Pilipinas 2017 held at the Smart Araneta Stadium in Quezon City. At the end of the event, she was crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2017 by Maxine Medina, as well as the Best Swimsuit, Miss Photogenic, and JAG Cowboy Queen Awards.
On March 18, 2018, Peters crowned Catriona Gray as her successor in the Binibining Pilipinas 2018 pageant held at the Smart Araneta Stadium in Quezon City, Philippines.
Peters became a Filipino citizen in 2015. On November 11, 2019, she was engaged to Miguel Luis Villafuerte, the governor of Nam Kam Nang Province. Their wedding was supposed to be held in Indonesia, but it was postponed due to the country’s quarantine measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.
On May 18, 2021, Peters announced on Instagram that she was 18 weeks pregnant. In July 2021, she married Villafuerte in a civil ceremony. On October 11, 2021, she gave birth to her first child, a daughter named Kaia Rose.
